Running a business is like putting together a jigsaw puzzle – each piece crucial and each move strategic. Even with the daily hustle, there's a constant quest for effective ways to manage and truly inspire your team.

According to a recent study, employees are more likely to perform beyond the scope of their normal job responsibilities when they constantly get recognition for their efforts in the workplace.

If you’re still reading, you’ve probably gotten the idea that employee recognition is central to an organization’s effort to provide a positive work experience to its employees. According to Forbes, a well-structured employee recognition program brings about a 31% decrease in voluntary employee turnover rate.

But the real question is, how do you do it effectively and effortlessly?

You need recognition software solutions.

In this article, we'll highlight how innovative software solutions transform how organizations acknowledge and reward their workforce and also explain the growing landscape of recognition software tailored for businesses. But first…

What Are Recognition Platforms?

Employee recognition platforms are software designed to facilitate all reward-based activities of an organization. They help set up recognition loops that automatically reward meriting employees.

It’s a critical catalyst for raising the motivation of employees to optimal levels. Implementing employee recognition programs, especially in a virtual work environment, is the best way to appreciate hard-working and steadfast employees. Using public acclaim, welfare extras, and bonuses makes employees feel more valued. More importantly, it creates a company culture that acknowledges impactful work efforts.

It fosters continuous improvement because rewarding high-performing employees encourages other team members, especially remote workers who may often feel unmotivated, to put in more effort.

Criteria for the Selection of Top 20 Recognition Software

There are various employee recognition software that can help power your employee reward program, but how do you find the right one?

When making a decision, it’s best to know the essential features to look out for the ideal recognition platform. Criteria to curate the top-rated employee recognition software that can improve employees' job satisfaction include:

  1. Peer-to-peer Recognition
  2. User-friendliness
  3. Customization
  4. Integration Capabilities
  5. Analytics
  1. Peer-to-peer Recognition

The most effective employee recognition platforms are those that support peer-to-peer rewards. Peer-to-peer recognition enables team members to acknowledge each other's wins. Peer-to-peer recognition uses functionalities of nominations, voting polls, and a broadcast feature that allows employees to share recognition across platforms like Microsoft Teams.

  1. User-friendliness

Implementing recognition software hinges on different factors. For instance, you’ll have to decide the monetary value of cash rewards, how accessible the software is, etc. So, it's best to use recognition software that makes the process much easier. User-friendly software clearly outlines employee onboarding and provides users with a dedicated 24/7 customer support service that attends to issues not included in the software support documents. User-friendly recognition software enjoys company-wide acceptance and utilization.

  1. Customization

A recognition platform that allows you to create a reward system based on your organization’s core values is a great way to promote company culture. This helps to foster the adoption of these values among employees. Personalizing employee tributes on important milestones such as birthdays, work anniversaries, and project completions makes them memorable. Sadly, keeping track of these events can be challenging for HR departments, especially in growing organizations. So, an employee recognition software that automates monitoring these milestones will be a great addition to the company.

  1. Integration Capabilities

An ideal employee recognition software can successfully integrate with an organization's existing IT infrastructure, including the company's intranet and human resource information system(HRIS). HRIS integration helps to eliminate the time-consuming administrative task of enlisting or delisting employees from the platform. It makes adding or removing employees co-occur as the changes are made in the organization's HR database. An ideal recognition software also offers single sign-on(SSO) integration to simplify staff log-in, allowing team members to use the same login credentials to access a company's workplace tools. So, employees don’t need to worry about remembering different login credentials.

  1. Analytics

In employee recognition, comprehensive analytics and reporting are essential. It’s important to evaluate the impact of recognition on employee engagement levels and performance. Innovational recognition software provides reliable insights into these impacts and also assists organizations in crafting better recognition traditions. They also equip team managers with dashboards that enable them to monitor the progress of an organization’s reward program, including employee recognition statistics, the layout of recognitions, the company values being recognized, team performance, etc. A well-built recognition software furnishes an organization’s leadership with accurate financial reporting, making the reward schedules easier to manage and accountable.

Future Trends in Recognition Software

According to Gallup, the engagement rates of employees receiving wholesome recognition experiences are 20 times higher than those not adequately appreciated.

As reported by Deloitte, a one-size-fits-all solution no longer works. Appreciation resonates well with individuals if it evokes a more personal sentiment. A one-size-fits-all approach robs you of the opportunity to spot these individual nuances. It doesn't consider individual preferences but constructs reward programs to serve The average employee. For instance, in contrast to popular belief, non-monetary incentives have tremendously increased employee motivation, retention rates, and performance.

This shows that data power the future of recognition software. The good news is that the massive advancements made so far in fully leveraging data capabilities are billed to shape employee rewards and recognition in the following ways:

  1. AI-driven personalization
  2. Remote-work centric features
  3. AI-driven personalization
  1. AI-driven Personalization

AI-driven recognition platforms are redefining employee recognition. They make personalized recognition across the different teams of an organization feasible by helping organizations fulfill the personal recognition preferences of employees. Identifying these inclinations using past reward choices and feedback can provide accurate insights. Based on these insights, they offer employees appropriate reward options, allowing them to choose the option that inspires the most motivation.

  1. Remote-work Centric Features

With workplaces becoming increasingly hybrid, the ideal employee recognition software will be those that can easily adapt to cater to remote employees. Remote-centric features like centralized recognition feeds help to promote inclusivity in a hybrid workplace, fostering rapport amongst employees working in different locations. Also, gamification makes recognition occur in real-time and boosts the social bonds in teams. Remote-friendly rewards and recognition features will play a key role in helping companies minimize the turnover of talents by cultivating a sense of belonging among employees working remotely.

  1. Enhanced Data Analytics for Actionable Insights

The growing need for organizations to provide personalized rewards to employees as engagement strategies will lead to the enhanced analytics reporting framework in recognition software. This will enable organizations to extract invaluable and actionable insights from employee data. With AI-powered recognition platforms, HR professionals can use Natural Language Processing (NLP) to break down survey responses, communications between team members, and interactions on collaboration platforms. This will help them spot sentiments and identify patterns in employees’ disposition towards an organization's core values. With these, organizations can formulate a tip-top employee recognition plan.

A good example of recognition in business is the paid leave surprises that Apple provides its employees during the holiday season.

What type of recognition do employees value most?

Ensure you’re genuine, thoughtful, and authentic with your recognition because that’s the type of recognition employees cherish the most.

That being said, no two employees are the same. Employees may often prefer different forms of recognition based on their experiences, personalities, and backgrounds. For instance, more reserved employees may opt for private recognition, but this recent report says that more than 50% of employees prefer public recognition, particularly from their senior colleagues and managers.

Ideally, as a leader, it’s best to identify the type of recognition each employee prefers. You know this by interacting with team members personally and observing how they respond to rewards. If you notice they’re uncomfortable, try a different approach.

For all other organizations, we are willing to consider longer-term agreements in exchange for discounts. To set up annual plans or longer, you will need to book a demo with a customer support specialist.

How do I cancel my plan if needed?

If you're on a month to month plan, you can go here and cancel anytime. If you're having concerns or need help setting up your account for success, you can always book a demo with a customer support specialist.

If you're on a longer-term custom plan, you'll need to reach out to your customer support specialist to cancel your account or email us at support@joinassembly.com.

What customizations are available?

Great question! You can customize your core values to match your organization's to boost and track alignment. You can change your currency from the 🏆 emoji (our default) to any emoji of your choice. You can swap our logo for your own. You can also set up company culture rewards such as, "Lunch with the CEO," "Buy a book on us," and so much more!

Who can give or receive recognition?

While we recommend a peer to peer set up where anyone in your organization can give or receive recognition, you can set up Assembly however you want. If you need to limit the people who can give or receive recognition, that's perfectly fine and can be done from your Admin, here.

What integrations are available?

Assembly connects to the tools your employees use every day to offer an easy, seamless experience with minimal change management.

Assembly has integrations with HCM/HRIS systems like ADP, Google, Office 365, and Slack. We also integrate with communication tools like Slack and Teams so you and your employees can access Assembly wherever they work now.

What's your average adoption rate?

That depends on the company's permissions set up. That said, over 90% of the employees on Assembly's platform are recognized on a monthly basis. That means nearly every employee across all of our customers are receiving regular recognition from their peers, managers, or leadership. We're extremely proud of this.

Must rewards be set up to use Assembly?

They are not required. You can use Assembly without having rewards set up. However, we don't recommend it if you intend to have a high adoption and usage rate. You can always keep the costs down by offering internal culture rewards that are fulfilled by you internally.

Are points required to use Assembly?

No, you can remove allowances from anyone or everyone. It's up to you but we do recommend using points whether they're worth a real dollar value or not. Companies that use points have a much higher engagement rate even if those points don't exchange for real dollars.
