The workplace has evolved. Hybrid work environments—where employees split time between the office and remote locations—are now the norm for many organizations. While this model offers flexibility and access to a broader talent pool, it also presents a unique challenge: How do you ensure every team member feels equally valued, recognized, and connected, regardless of where they work? One increasingly effective solution is the strategic use of gift cards. When thoughtfully implemented, gift cards can bridge the gap between in-office and remote teams, fostering a culture of appreciation, inclusion, and unity.
Hybrid work models have transformed organizational operations, but they can inadvertently create disparities in employee experience. In-office staff may benefit from spontaneous recognition, team lunches, or visible rewards, while remote employees risk feeling overlooked or disconnected. This “perk inequity” can erode morale and engagement, making it essential for companies to find ways to deliver consistent, meaningful recognition to all employees.
Employee recognition is a proven driver of satisfaction, productivity, and retention. According to Gallup, employees who feel recognized are more likely to be engaged and less likely to seek new opportunities elsewhere. In hybrid settings, where face-to-face interactions are limited, recognition must be intentional and accessible to everyone. Gift cards offer a flexible, scalable way to achieve this.
Gift cards stand out as a universal reward that transcends physical boundaries. They can be delivered digitally to remote employees or physically to those in the office, ensuring everyone receives the same level of appreciation. Gift cards are also highly customizable, allowing organizations to tailor rewards to individual preferences, occasions, and achievements.
Assembly’s soon-to-launch gift card program is purpose-built for the needs of modern, hybrid teams. Here’s how it works:
Gift cards help level the playing field by providing a standardized, yet personalized, form of recognition. Whether an employee is working from home in another state or sitting in the office, they receive the same thoughtful gesture. This consistency is crucial for building a sense of belonging and equity across hybrid teams.
To maximize the impact of your gift card program, consider these best practices:
While gift cards are powerful, avoid relying solely on monetary rewards. Combine them with verbal recognition, opportunities for growth, and meaningful feedback to create a holistic culture of appreciation.
Gift cards are more than just a convenient perk—they are a strategic tool for unifying hybrid teams, ensuring every employee feels seen, valued, and connected. With Assembly’s innovative gift card program, organizations can deliver recognition experiences that bridge the gap between in-office and remote staff.

They are not required. You can use Assembly without having rewards set up. However, we don't recommend it if you intend to have a high adoption and usage rate. You can always keep the costs down by offering internal culture rewards that are fulfilled by you internally.
No, you can remove allowances from anyone or everyone. It's up to you but we do recommend using points whether they're worth a real dollar value or not. Companies that use points have a much higher engagement rate even if those points don't exchange for real dollars.
